To accommodate this desire to explore the world, Boston University sponsors one of the largest study abroad programs in the country with diverse offerings in more than thirty cities on six continents.
Students begin planning for study abroad early in their time at BU, especially if they plan to study in a non-English speaking country and need to learn another language. The application deadline for programs occurs early in the semester prior to departure: early fall for spring, early spring for summer, and mid-spring for fall. Though many students study abroad in the spring of their junior years after completing Core, there is no one right time to go. Advisors in the UDC are available to assist students in planning for study abroad.
Questrom students choose a variety of programs, not necessarily specific for Questrom students, through which to study abroad. Courses taken and internships completed through BU Study Abroad transfer to BU directly, counting for course requirements as appropriate and toward students’ BU GPAs. If students cannot find a program through BU that piques their interest, they may choose to study abroad through an external program, understanding that they may take only non-management courses and that internships through non-BU programs will not transfer.
